[Poetry] Down The Tree-Lined Path

And so we met;
Stories exchanged,
Of then and now,
And what lies ahead.
Now that you're here,
I find myself drifting;
Far and out of sight,
...Out of reach.
Like the fragile glass of illusion,
A heavy fog is one that blocks my sight;
I've allowed myself to drift... to live,
Inside shadows and mists.
Broken shards of brilliant glass,
Is raining down on me,
The thick, clammy fog has lifted,
Bathing me with the sun's healing rays.
Free of shadows and of the past,
I am free to run... to skip... to fly;
The journey I started with you,
Is now at an end.
Down the tree-lined path,
I ran... I danced;
Excitement brewing to a boil,
To discover what lies just ahead.
Down this path,
I leave you behind;
As I journey on... alone,
With renewed wonder and laughter.
This one is for me.

[Essay Great Deeds Result From Great Love

We have all heard of great deeds that inspired people to believe, to take action. Now we ask ourselves, what drives them to do such things? Is it passion? Or ambition? I believe the answer is love. Such a great word not because of what it means but because of what people can do because of love.

Throughout our rich Filipino history, we have heroes who did great things and one of them is Dr. Jose P. Rizal, with his fine mind and powerful words, created two sensational novels, the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, to open the eyes and mind of our ancestors to the dreadful realities during the Spanish regime. Along with other notable heroes throughout time, they fought with everything they've got for love of freedom and love of country. Because of them, we are no longer referred to as the lowly, ignorant "Indio." Instead, it was changed into something with much more respect... a "Filipino."

Today, our country struggles from one crisis after another and our people suffer the most. Let us be like the heroes of the past and fight for the future of our country, love it! Someday, it will be great again.
