Happy Thanksgiving 2011

As we all know, the Thanksgiving celebration is about looking at the past year and giving thanks and acknowledging all the blessings we have received, or just being grateful to the people who have been of tremendous help to us in both the small and big things. For me, I am thankful for my wonderful and loving husband Mikey, for his amazing family (immediate and extended) for their easy acceptance of me and making me feel very much welcome and part of their family and because of them, I'm not feeling homesick or anywhere close to it; I'm also thankful for landing a really great job in this economy and working with people who make it fun and enjoyable to come in every morning. And hopefully there will be more blessings this year that we can all be thankful for.

New Beginnings

Introducing myself is not my favorite part but I'm doing it anyway. My name is Mary Grace but family and friends call me either Gracie or MG and I respond to all three of them. The name of this blog came about out of my love for the written word and crafting among other things and now it also extends to yarn and knitting! I was first introduced to the art of needle (and thread) crafts back in High School with embroidery, sewing and cross stitch projects as part of our Home Economics class in High School. I had to give up my cross stitch DMC thread collection as my eye sight has gotten worse and reading the pattern is no longer a joy but a massive headache starter. I saw a book laying around the house about all sorts of needle craft and as busy as I was back then with work, I told myself, one of these days I'll learn to knit and/or crochet. For the longest time, I completely forgot about learning a new needle craft until one day, I was at my husband's step grandmother's house and she was knitting a dishcloth for a friend and I told her how I would love to learn to knit and she taught me how to cast on, the knit and purl stitches, and binding off last Spring 2011 and though I've made 3 dishcloths, a scarf, 2 iPhone socks just using knits and purls, I think it's time now to learn some YO's and Increase/Decrease and all that other fun stuff. Now that I have a couple months under my belt of knitting experience, I find that I can now read my ebooks or watch movies while knitting! Life is so much better with yarn and a good book/movie!

This blog will be a mix of what I'm reading and knitting and probably everything under the sun that I find interesting. I've also included links to my favorite blogs/pod casters namely Alana from Never Not Knitting and Barb & Tracie from 2 Knit Lit Chicks.

I hope you will enjoy this blog and my favorite blogs/podcasts and come back for more.
