First Attempt: Crochet

I know it's barely a year since I started knitting and I still haven't gotten around to learning yarn overs or how to increase/decrease or how to knit in the round and now I'm attempting to learn how to crochet on my own! Well, thanks to YouTube and to the Chicks with Sticks Guide to Crochet, I've managed to learn the basic stitches and decided to make square coasters out of my practice scraps. I don't know, but I think my coasters look a little weird around the edges. Or am I being overly critical?

Star Fairy Dreambox

My husband Mikey and I were out at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post here in Colorado Springs looking for a Christmas present for my mom that would remind her of her visit here hence the Trading Post. We did find a present for her and a little bonus for myself: a Dreambox!

The Legend of the Dreambox (often attributed to Lemuria) suggests writing down your fondest dream, greatest desire, strongest wish on a small piece of paper, putting that paper in a Dreambox and placing it beside your bed. Every evening as you retire and every morning as you rise, hold your Dreambox and think of your dream, believing with all your heart that it is so. Legend has it, if done faithfully... your dream will come true.

After reading about the legend and looking down on the selection of circular maple wood boxes, one design jumped out at me... To be honest, it actually felt more like it called to me. I had this great compulsion to get it, to bring it home with me.

With this week's writing streak I'm having, I'm guessing the artwork on the Dreambox is reminding me to keep on dreaming (or in this case, hang up a star for every dream) and someday it will all come true.

I really hope it does work!
