Crojo (aka Crochet Mojo) is back with crocheted carnation flowers to replicate my very own wedding bouquet since my 10 year anniversary is coming up next year in July. I thought I'd better start working on this bouquet so I'd have enough time to switch things out if a pattern or yarn did not work out or buy additional materials like floral wire. If I knew how to crochet back then, I definitely would've crocheted my own bouquet so I could use it next year. I'm also working on a crochet poncho design but not the traditional triangular design that you slip over the head. I wanted something that can be easily slipped on and off for any kind of traveling and since it's for my mom, I asked her what she's looking for and she said definitely not the triangular design most ponchos have. She'd rather have something that's straight in the back and easy to put on and take off so I suggested something rectangular with buttons on the shoulders to keep it together and she liked it so I started working on that one.
This month is the 2018 Yarn Along The Rockies, Colorado's annual yarn crawl from August 18 - August 26. This year, there's 14 shops participating. I feel like that's a bit less than when I participated back in 2014. Unfortunately, I didn't have time this year to participate (and I can only participate in yarn crawls or yarn festivals when my stash is empty) so I hope you were able to participate at your State's annual yarn crawl or yarn festival and I hope you had lots of fun and maybe win some prizes.
On the watercolor side of things, I finally bit the bullet and got myself the Prang Oval-8 color set and I will most likely stay with the brand since they're the only ones in a pan set that is refillable and has good pigment at a price that is less than $7.00. This is the brand of watercolor that I learned with as an adult. As a child, I used some nameless brand 36-color watercolor pan set that has more filler than pigment and comes with this awful red-handled black nylon round brush that does nothing to carry either water or pigment but I still like painting with it knowing nothing about watercolor quality at the time (I mean, who does when you're less than 10 years old?). I'm looking forward to working on my Prang Color Mixing Chart soon.
